Raymond F. Colbert
, 95, of West New York NJ passed away on Saturday August 11, 2018.
Born in Paris, France on February 15, 1923.
Raymond enlisted in the United States Army during World War II (1942 -1945), and functioned as an interpreter during the first United States invasion. During his tour of duty, he had the distinct opportunity to shake hands with the 18th President of the French Republic, Charles de Gaulle.
As an occupation after his tour of duty, Raymond became the director for 30 years, of a French electronic company, in New York City. He started his own organization selling U.S. equipment to France in Europe.
Raymond was marred to Marie, and had one son, Michel. Unfortunately, his only child Michel, died in the tragedy at the World Trade Center on September 11th.
Marie passed away in 2006.
Raymond was a lifelong resident at Tower West, on Boulevard East in West New York, and was well respected by all of his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed the company of his poodle Gigi. Raymond married Gloria Argueta, who took care of him until his death.
