Edmond G. Massa, Jr.
passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 4th, 2017. He had just celebrated his 92nd birthday 4 days earlier. Ed or Eddie, as his family and friends knew him led a wonderful and productive life. Ed leaves behind his devoted wife, Martha, of 68 years, a daughter, Rhonda and son, Edmond III. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, Marsi, Michael, Gina and David; along with 2 adorable great grandchildren, Sienna and Samuel. “Uncle Ed” will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and dozens of cousins.
Ed was lifelong resident of West New York, NJ and spent many, many winters in Boca Raton, Florida. He was one of the Greatest Generation's WW II Army-Air Force veterans and served his country proudly. Upon graduating, with honors, from Seton Hall University, Ed followed in his father's footsteps and had a distinguished career of 40+ years with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1983 as Supervisor and Manager of Corporate Audits. He also served on the West New York Board of Education, along with 2 terms as Board President. Ed was actively involved with Kiwanis, serving as President and Past President; and The Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Ed, who was never selfish with his personal time, will be fondly remembered for his wit and wisdom; always making himself available to family and friends for his knowledge and sound advice.
The Massa family would like to thank and acknowledge the help, care and compassion provided by Ed's health care providers, Hospice, Visiting Nurses and the Hackensack University Medical Center staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Hackensack University Medical Center Children's Hospital at 20 Prospect Ave, Hackensack, NJ.
