, "Bolo", beloved son of WNY, passed at Age 60 (1957 - 2018).
“Bolo” Carreno born in Quito, Ecuador on October 27th, 1957, passed away surrounded by family on May 12th, 2018.
Bolo, born with Down Syndrome, was a beloved person in the Town of West New York. He defied his doctor’s predictions that he would only live till his late teens, by living until the age of 60. He was presence in the Town of WNY for 3 decades, before moving to Bethlehem, PA in 2003.
Everyone loved Bolo and welcomed him into their homes, their schools, their sports fields and churches. From Mayor DeFino, to Mayor Sires, to Mayor Vega, Bolo could often be found in City Hall. From Memorial High School football, to baseball, to softball, Bolo was welcomed on all sidelines. From Sal’s Pizzeria to Nandi’s Candy Store, Bolo was always welcomed. Bolo was an usher and a regular at Sunday mass, at Our Lady of Libra Church. Bolo was loved by everyone and touched everyone in a special way and he will surely be missed.
He is survived by his father Bolivar Carreno, sisters; Guadalupe Mullins, Rocio Duran, Elizabeth Rehonic, and brother Maurice Carreno Brother-in-laws Edward Mullins, Hector Duran, John Rehonic, and Brian leRiche ,12 nephews, 3 nieces and 3 great nephews and nieces.
